Brief and internal R&D context

This internal R&D project was developed with Global Produce in Tokyo to demonstrate the possibilities of virtual production. The aim was to create immersive digital environments that embodied elements of Japanese culture.

Seasonal environments in Unreal Engine

Refractiv developed the environments, look development, animation, and Unreal Engine production around a set of seasonal shifts. The scenes were designed to move across different atmospheres, times of year, and weather conditions while remaining coherent as one visual direction.

The project explored how Unreal Engine can be used in spatial settings to create environments that keep changing over time. Rather than presenting a single fixed backdrop, the work demonstrated how virtual environments can carry mood, variation, and spatial change within one visual framework. That made the project useful both as a filming environment and as a presentation tool for showing how immersive production can remain visually dynamic without sacrificing visual complexity.
